Spring is in the air! It's a bittersweet time with bright flowers and trees coming into bloom giving us a true visual pleasure yet on the flip side, their pollen may create unpleasant allergy symptoms for many.
Although difficult to avoid environmental irritants, there are ways to strengthen and support your body to help minimize exposure and reaction. Typically, it is the everyday chronic exposure of pollen that throws the immune system into full gear, almost in overdrive, as it wants and needs to eliminate the foreign invader. Some people are more sensitive and their immune system works a little harder by releasing histamine, and that histamine creates most of the symptoms that exasperate irritated nasal passages, sinuses, and throats.
Symptoms:
• itchiness: nose, throat, ears, skin, and eyes
• runny or stuffy nose
• loss of smell and/or taste
• postnasal drip
• scratchy throat
If the sinuses get involved, there may be pressure on the face and/or headaches.
It’s a good idea to start the prevention tips as soon as early as February, we can start seeing Spring blooms making their appearance. In the upcoming webinar, I will go over how the immune system gets triggered, and the best ways to support your body to prevent and/or lessen any symptoms.
