The following five proverbs are among my favorite in the Spanish language. Have your child study and memorize them. Have them draw a picture or download / print out pictures illustrating some of the concepts. Others could share ideas aloud or on paper of why they agree or disagree with the sentiment. In what situation would it make sense to say one of these sentences?
| La práctica hace al maestro | Practice makes perfect (Literally, practice makes the teacher.) |
| Lo bueno, si breve, dos veces bueno. | That which is good, if it is brief, is twice as good. |
| No hay mal que por bien no venga. | Every cloud has a silver lining. (i.e., There is nothing bad that happens that doesn’t lead to something good.) |
| En boca cerrada, no entran moscas. | Silence is golden. (i.e., If you keep your mouth closed, flies can’t get in!) |
| El tiempo lo cura todo. | Time heals everything. |
